The AJIST Author Guidelines explain manuscript preparation and submission requirements for the Asian Journal of Information Science and Technology (AJIST). Authors should first confirm that their work fits the journal’s Aims and Scope and then follow the requirements below before using the AJIST manuscript submission page.

1. Originality and Prior Publication

Manuscripts submitted to AJIST must present original scholarly work and must not be under simultaneous consideration by another journal. Authors should disclose related prior publications, preprints, conference abstracts, datasets, or closely related manuscripts when these are relevant to assessment of originality or overlap. Editorial screening may include similarity checks in accordance with the Publication Ethics & Publication Malpractice Statement.

2. Article Types

  • Original Research Article - original empirical, methodological, or theoretical research.
  • Review Article - a balanced and current synthesis of a defined topic or research question, with the review approach explained where appropriate.
  • Case Study - a clearly defined scholarly or practice-based case relevant to the journal’s scope.

3. Peer Review

All submissions receive an initial editorial assessment. Manuscripts considered suitable for external evaluation are normally assessed under AJIST’s double-blind peer-review process by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. The Editor-in-Chief or an authorised editor makes the final editorial decision.

4. Authorship and Contributorship

All listed authors should have made substantial intellectual contributions, participated in drafting or critically revising the work, approved the final version, and accepted accountability for the work. Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged separately. AJIST supports the CRediT Contributor Roles Taxonomy for transparent contribution statements.

5. Changes to Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors should normally be made before acceptance, with a clear reason and written agreement from all affected authors. Changes after acceptance may be considered only in exceptional circumstances and may require a formal correction after publication.

6. Ethical and Transparency Declarations

Authors should include the declarations relevant to their manuscript, including acknowledgements, author-contribution information, competing interests, funding, ethics approval and informed consent where applicable, data availability, and any required generative-AI disclosure. Full requirements should be read together with AJIST’s Publication Ethics and Generative AI Policy.

7. Ethical Oversight

Research involving human participants, personal or sensitive data, vulnerable groups, animals, or other activities requiring formal oversight must follow applicable institutional, national, legal, and disciplinary requirements. Where approval, consent, or prospective registration is required, relevant information should be supplied in the manuscript.

8. Manuscript Preparation

  • Paper size: Letter.
  • Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.
  • Layout: Double column; line spacing 1.0; justified alignment.
  • Title: Times New Roman, 16 pt, bold, centred, with each principal word capitalised.
  • Author names: 11 pt; affiliations: 10 pt; email addresses: 9 pt.
  • Level 1 headings: 10 pt, uppercase.
  • Level 2 and Level 3 headings: 10 pt, italic, with principal words capitalised.
  • Main text: Times New Roman, 10 pt.
  • References: 8 pt.
  • Final production formatting may be applied by the editorial office after acceptance.

9. Title Page

Provide the manuscript title, complete author names, institutional affiliations, corresponding-author email address, abstract, and keywords. Because AJIST uses double-blind review, identifying information should be separated from the anonymised manuscript when required by the submission system.

10. Abstract and Keywords

Original research articles should normally include an abstract of approximately 150-250 words presenting the purpose, methods or approach, principal findings, and conclusion. Use 3-8 informative keywords relevant to the article and its discoverability.

11. Main Manuscript

Original research manuscripts should normally include Introduction, Methods or Methodology, Results or Findings, Discussion, Conclusions, and References. Review articles should explain the purpose and scope of the review and, where applicable, how literature was identified, selected, and synthesised.

12. Tables, Figures and Supplementary Material

Number tables and figures consecutively, cite each in the text, and provide clear titles or captions. Images must accurately represent the underlying content and must not be manipulated in a misleading manner. Supplementary files should be clearly labelled and described.

13. References

Use APA style consistently. Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of references and should include DOI information where available. Crossref recommends supplying DOI identifiers with references to improve reliable linking and discovery; see Crossref reference best practices.

14. Submission Preparation Checklist

  • The manuscript is within the AJIST Aims and Scope.
  • The submission is original and is not under consideration elsewhere.
  • All authors have approved the manuscript and agreed to submission.
  • The manuscript is prepared in Microsoft Word format.
  • Corresponding-author details and complete affiliations are supplied.
  • The anonymised manuscript meets double-blind review requirements.
  • Abstract and 3-8 keywords are included.
  • Tables, figures, captions, and supplementary files are complete and cited.
  • References follow APA style and have been checked for accuracy and DOI information where available.
  • Required authorship, ethics, funding, conflict-of-interest, data-availability, and AI declarations are included.
  • The manuscript has been checked for clarity, spelling, grammar, and formatting.
