Optional manuscript transfer within the Centre for Research and Innovation (CRI) journal portfolio

The Asian Journal of Information Science and Technology (AJIST) may offer an optional article transfer when editors consider another CRI journal potentially more appropriate for the manuscript’s subject and scope. A transfer takes place only with the author’s explicit consent. Acceptance is not guaranteed, and the receiving journal conducts its own editorial assessment and decides whether further peer review is required.

Article transfer is entirely optional. A manuscript and its associated submission materials are transferred only after the author gives explicit consent. Declining a transfer invitation does not adversely affect the author.

2. Materials That May Be Transferred

With author consent, the transfer may include the manuscript, supplementary files, submission metadata and relevant editorial records. Reviewer reports may be transferred only when this is consistent with reviewer confidentiality, reviewer terms and any applicable consent requirements. Personal and submission information should be handled in accordance with the AJIST Privacy Policy.

3. Independent Editorial Assessment

The receiving journal makes its own editorial assessment. It may use existing reviewer reports, request additional assessment, begin a new peer-review process, or decline the manuscript. The receiving journal’s editor remains responsible for the editorial decision.

4. Reviewer Reports

When reviewer reports are transferred, they are provided for editorial consideration. The receiving editor decides whether those reports are sufficient or whether additional independent review is necessary. Reviewer confidentiality and ethical handling should remain consistent with AJIST’s Publication Ethics & Publication Malpractice Statement. 5. No Guarantee of Acceptance or Faster Publication

A manuscript transfer does not guarantee external review, acceptance, a favourable decision, faster decision-making or publication. The receiving journal applies its own Aims and Scope, peer-review requirements, ethical standards and editorial criteria.

6. Fees

No transfer fee is charged unless this is explicitly stated. If the receiving journal applies an article processing charge or another author-facing fee, the author should be informed of the receiving journal’s current fee policy before agreeing to the transfer. 7. Editorial Independence and Conflicts of Interest

Article transfer does not change editorial standards, peer-review requirements, conflict-of-interest management or the independence of the receiving journal’s final decision. An editor with a relevant conflict of interest should not make the decision on the transferred manuscript. 8. Confidentiality

Transferred manuscripts, reviewer reports and editorial correspondence remain confidential and should be accessible only to people involved in legitimate editorial handling at the receiving journal. Related data-handling information is available in the Privacy Policy.
