Use of Generative AI
Statement Concerning the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence
This policy outlines the regulations governing the application of artificial intelligence (AI) methods and technologies across all stages of academic publishing for the Centre for Research and Innovation (CRI) Journals, including research, article preparation, peer review, and editorial processing. The objective is to uphold academic integrity, ensure transparency, and promote responsible and ethical conduct in scholarly communication.
CRI Journal adheres to internationally recognised editorial and ethical standards, including the principles and criteria established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
CRI Journals requires full transparency regarding the use of Generative AI (GenAI) methods in the development of research and articles. GenAI may be used for particular and appropriate tasks—such as language refinement, data visualisation, or formatting—but it must not supplant human intellectual contributions, nor should it be relied upon to generate, modify, or fabricate research content.
GenAI tools cannot be acknowledged as authors, as they do not meet the established criteria for authorship. Authorship necessitates considerable intellectual exertion, direct participation in the creation or modification of the document, and total responsibility for its content. Authors maintain full responsibility for the accuracy, creativity, and ethical compliance of their work, regardless of the application of AI methods. All submissions must adhere to the established standards for academic integrity, scientific rigour, originality, and proper credit.
Authors employing GenAI technologies must provide a clear disclosure statement. The disclosure must include the name(s) of the AI tool(s) employed (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot).
A specification of the specific goals for which the tool was utilised (e.g., language enhancement, data visualisation, literary classification)
The peer review process must be entirely conducted by humans. While AI technologies can assist in administrative or analytical tasks, they must not replace the reviewer’s independent judgement, domain experience, or ethical responsibilities.
This policy incorporates current best practices and will be subject to continuous review and modifications to maintain consistency with advancements in AI and academic publishing.
Prerequisite for Artificial Intelligence Authors must declare the use of Generative AI or AI-based tools in the Declarations section of their work.
